An evening of celebration, appreciation and thanks to amazing volunteers

Riverbank Medical Centre run by Pier Health Group had an evening of celebration, appreciation, and thanks for all their volunteers to say thank you for all the hard work that they do.

To mark a year since the first Covid-19 vaccine was given, volunteers who have made it all possible were invited to an evening of celebration, and an opportunity for Local Councillor Mark Alpin, Chair and Chief Executive of Pier Health Group, and the Centre Manager all to say a big thank you for the people who manage the car park when patients arrive, to the ones welcoming people into the building, ensure face coverings are worn, and social distancing measures are maintained, to showing people through the building and helping anyone who feels nervous, and then ensuring safe exits when the public are attending to have their Covid-19 vaccines.

Volunteer Kevin Pearce says: “This is a fantastic way that I can help my community, I really feel like I am helping make a difference.

“It is a great way to meet local people, help them, and I feel good knowing I am giving back to the community.

“If you are wanting to join us, and become a volunteer, I really recommend it.”

Local Councillor, Mark Alpin says: “It was a fantastic evening, and I am really pleased to have been invited along to share in giving thanks to the local people who volunteer and give back to the community making things run smoothly for our local residents.”

Jodi Clark, Centre Manager said “Riverbank would not be able to function in the way that we do without our amazing volunteers.

“They are the friendly face of Riverbank and oversee the patient journey ensuring that they have a positive experience.

“The volunteers come from such different backgrounds, all brought together for this wonderful cause and to give back to their community. They are an inspiration, and we are so grateful to all of them.”

Riverbank Vaccination centre has administered over 120,000 vaccines after transforming an old derelict building into a safe, welcoming vaccination centre. The response from local residents has been phenomenal, with the vast majority of people booking their vaccination as soon as they become eligible.

They are constantly on the lookout for volunteers. Anyone that would like to give up some time and become a volunteer and give back to the community even if it’s just an hour, whether you are working, retired, or are a student – they welcome you all to come and be part of the friendly team please email bnssg.riverbank@nhs.net
