Pier Health Group Named One of the UK’s New Primary Care Research Delivery Centres!

We are thrilled to announce that Pier Health Group Research has been selected as one of the UK’s new Primary Care Commercial Research Delivery Centres (PC-CRDCs)! This is a fantastic recognition of our team’s hard work and expertise, and it’s an exciting step forward for bringing cutting-edge research directly into our local communities.

This is part of a major national initiative to strengthen the UK’s position at the forefront of life sciences and medical technology innovation, supporting the Government’s vision to turbocharge medical research and improve patient care.

What this means for our patients and communities

As a PC-CRDC, Pier Health Research will:

  • Speed up the delivery of commercial clinical trials in primary care, supported by dedicated teams, streamlined processes, and state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Bring research closer to home, making it easier for patients to take part in studies without having to travel to hospitals.
  • Increase access and inclusion, ensuring people from all communities can benefit from innovative treatments and technologies.

Our success is built on a strong Pier Health Brand reputation, a track record of delivering commercial research with our patients, our experienced team, dedicated research space and equipment, and a frictionless delivery model set within primary care without impacting primary care services and resources. Given our research department has only been in existence the past 3 years, this is fantastic news.

Our bid was supported by a wider patient population across the South West of more than 1.2 million patients from the counties of Somerset, North Somerset, Bristol, Gloucester and Wiltshire. This footprint will help us to achieve an increase in capability to delivery commercial research across our region and enable us to increase the capacity we have for commercial research.

We are proud to play a leading role in this national effort, bringing research closer to home and helping shape the future of healthcare through collaboration, innovation, and inclusion.
